About

Depok is a seated position of pencak silat and kuntao. The Boulder Silat glossary describes it as a back seated, cross-legged position, while the Clear Silat glossary calls it a back seated siloh. Depok serves to maintain control of the opponent after a throw to the ground and to continue the fight there. It is the back counterpart to sempok, the front seated position. We have not been able to document either the literal meaning of the name or the origin of the position.
