About

Danggyeo jireugi (English: pulling and punching) is described by Kukkiwon terminology as a technique in which the practitioner pulls the opponent in with one hand and strikes with a reverse punch to the chin or solar plexus. Danggyeo means to pull, jireugi a punch. In the poomsae Taegeuk Pal Jang it appears twice in the front stance ap kubi, and in Taebaek twice in the back stance dwit kubi. The Taekwondo Compendium lists it in both forms, in the chin-targeting version, as danggyeo teok jireugi. For Taegeuk Pal Jang it adds that the torso is turned 30 to 45° over the front side; for Taebaek, that the first strike is aimed while the following forward strike is not.
