About

Danggyeo deungjumeok ap chigi, literally pulling front back-fist strike (in English Pulling Back Fist Front Strike), is a WT taekwondo back-fist strike (deungjumeok). The Kukkiwon terminology dictionary explains danggyeo chigi as a technique in which the opponent is pulled in and struck with a back fist, hammer fist or elbow; deungjumeok is the upper part of the first two knuckles of the index and middle fingers. The Taekwondo Compendium lists it in the poomsae Pyongwon, where it is done twice together with a stamp and each time with a kihap; the Phoenix Taekwondo photo breakdown shows it in juchum seogi. Per the Compendium it differs from deungjumeok geodeureo ap chigi in that the aiming hand is open, whereas in the supported variant it is clenched into a fist.
