About
Beom seogi, literally tiger stance (in English Tiger Stance), is a WT taekwondo stance which the Kukkiwon terminology dictionary describes as a lowered form of ap seogi (walking stance) with the knees so close together they could touch. Seogi means stance. The Taekwondo Compendium lists it among the stances of the poomsae Taegeuk Chil Jang, Taegeuk Pal Jang and Taebaek. In Taegeuk Chil Jang, per the Phoenix Taekwondo photo breakdown, it is used for the palm-heel block batangson an makgi, the kick ap chagi, the block momtong an makgi and the back-fist strike. In Taegeuk Pal Jang the practitioner, per the Compendium, steps back into it from ap seogi and completes the palm-heel block as the stance is taken. In Taebaek it is used for sonnal arae hecheo makgi.
