About
Batangson nulleo makgi (English: palm heel pressing block) is, in Kukkiwon terminology, a block in which the palm heel (batangson) presses an attack downward. Terminology defines batangson as the lower part of the palm with the hand bent upward, and nulleo makgi as a block pressing down against an attack. In the poomsae Taegeuk Sah Jang it appears twice; the Phoenix Taekwondo photo breakdown captures it in motion, during the transition from the back stance dwit kubi to the front stance ap kubi. The Taekwondo Compendium lists it there in shortened form as nulleo makgi, followed by a fingertip thrust, and notes that the palm of the pressing hand should not tip upward toward the ceiling.
