About
Batangson an makgi (바탕손 안막기), in English palm heel inward block, is in Kukkiwon terminology a form of the inward block an makgi: it blocks outside to inside the body with the palm heel (batangson). It differs from basic an makgi, which blocks with the outer wrist edge, only in blocking surface. Taekwondo Compendium lists it in Taegeuk Yook Jang, Chil Jang, and Pal Jang. In Yook Jang, Phoenix Taekwondo's photo breakdown shows it twice in ap kubi; the Compendium describes the start with the wrist at eye height and fingers up, finishing at the same distance from the body as a strike to the middle, fingers still up. In Chil Jang it appears twice, in Pal Jang three times, always in beom seogi; in Pal Jang the Compendium places it during the backward shift from ap seogi to beom seogi.
