General overview of grades

This ladder is not yet attributed to a specific organisation. Federations differ in belt colours and time requirements.

WT Taekwondo (World Taekwondo), governed by the Kukkiwon headquarters in Seoul, uses 10 Gup student ranks and 9 Dan master ranks (10th Dan is honorary). The hierarchy evaluates Olympic full-contact Kyorugi sparring with Hogu chest protectors, aerial kicks, Poomsae (Taegeuk) forms, and breaking.
