Dhanurveda (Science of the Bow) is the ancient Indian science of martial arts and archery mentioned in the Vedas. It is divided into four branches: archery (Dhanus), sword and shield fighting, spear and unarmed combat. It forms the theoretical and spiritual basis of all traditional Indian martial arts.
