Anko ItosuOkinawan karate master from Shuri who from 1901 introduced karate into schools, created the five Pinan (Heian) katas and wrote the Ten Precepts of Karate in 1908.Sokon MatsumuraOkinawan martial arts master from Shuri (1809–1899), holder of a Jigen-ryu swordsmanship licence, to whom the principles of the seven virtues of bu are attributed.
