About Maphilindo Silat
According to what we found, Maphilindo Silat is not a separate traditional style but a designation used in schools from the circle of Dan Inosanto. The same word Maphilindo is borne by a political union of Malaya, Indonesia and the Philippines. According to a peer-reviewed article in the journal Sejarah (de Viana, 2015), it was proclaimed by President Macapagal and collapsed because of problems among the three states. English Wikipedia states that it was formed in July 1963 by the Manila Accord and ended in connection with the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation.

The school Reveal Martial Arts states that Maphilindo Silat is the set of all silat systems that Guro Dan Inosanto studied under masters from Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, and that he created it in honour of his teachers. The school Black Triangle Silat writes that Inosanto taught Kali Silat and the Maphilindo system in his program, but the sentence about who devised the system is linguistically ambiguous. Inosanto's academy itself calls its silat program Majapahit Martial Arts, and the Canadian school Maelstrom names Pencak Silat Mande Muda and Pencak Silat Bukti Negara in it, while the word Maphilindo does not appear on its website. In specialist sources such as Draeger, Chambers, Green and the JWN inventory, we do not find the word Maphilindo. We have not found the year of origin, the curriculum or the organization.
History
According to a peer-reviewed article in the journal Sejarah (University of Malaya, 2015), the political union Maphilindo was a proposal of Malaya, Indonesia and the Philippines, proclaimed by President Macapagal on 5 August, which collapsed because of problems between the states. English Wikipedia states that it was formed in July 1963 by the Manila Accord and ended in connection with the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation. The name is a compound of Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. The school Reveal Martial Arts states that Maphilindo Silat uses the same compound for the set of silat systems that Guro Dan Inosanto studied under masters from these three countries. The school Black Triangle Silat describes that Inosanto taught Kali Silat and the Maphilindo system in his program. The sentence about who devised the system is linguistically ambiguous. These claims come from the schools about themselves.
How it differs
Dan Inosanto's academy offers silat in a program called Majapahit Martial Arts, which lists Pencak Silat Mande Muda and Pencak Silat Bukti Negara. The word Maphilindo does not appear on the website of the Canadian school Maelstrom, which states this. From this we conclude that Maphilindo Silat is a designation for one circle of schools, not a separate system with its own curriculum. This is our inference from the available sources.

The school Reveal Martial Arts describes Maphilindo Silat as a combat system oriented to survival, not to sport or tournaments. It lists strikes, off-balancing, kicks, elbows, knees and strikes to nerve points. According to it, the holds are meant for fighting standing or on the knees. This is the school's claim about itself.
