What it is about
A blind masseur and swordsman arrives in a town controlled by two gangs.
The fighting in it
Zatōichi holds the blade reversed in a cane — the gyakute grip, which a blind swordsman genuinely could only use at close range. Kitano cut the duels down to a fraction of a second, which is the genre's closest approximation of how a drawing fight would actually end.
