The Twilight Samurai
2002 · Director: Yoji Yamada · JP
What it is about
A low-ranking samurai in a declining era cares for his daughters and ailing mother and tries to avoid duels.
The fighting in it
The indoor duel is among the genre's most accurate: the hero fights with the short sword because the long one is a liability in a confined room. That decision is exactly what koryū is about, and films usually ignore it.
Martial arts in the film
The film details have not yet been checked against a primary source.
