Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto

1954 · Director: Hiroshi Inagaki · JP

What it is about

The first part of the trilogy about Miyamoto Musashi, from raw villager to swordsman.

The fighting in it

Musashi was a real figure and founder of the Niten Ichi-ryū school, still practised today. The film follows Eiji Yoshikawa's novel rather than Musashi's own Book of Five Rings, so most scenes are literary rather than documented.
