Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey

Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey is a 2000 American-Hong Kong documentary film by John Little. Warner Home Video released it on VHS and DVD on 22 October 2000, and it later appeared as a bonus on the 2004 DVD of Enter the Dragon. It runs 110 minutes and is spoken in English and Cantonese. The documentary has five parts. The first three summarise Lee's life and his martial art Jeet Kune Do, which is the central theme of the film. Linda Lee Cadwell, Taky Kimura, Hapkido master Ji Han-jae and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar speak in them. The last two parts consist of restored footage from Game of Death, which Lee did not finish. In it, Lee fights three opponents: Dan Inosanto, Ji Han-jae and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Two of them, Ji Han-jae and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, thus appear in the film twice, once in an interview and once as Lee's opponents in the fight scenes. This is material that was not included in the version of the film released by Golden Harvest in 1978.

Origin

Lee did not finish the film Game of Death. In 1978, the Golden Harvest studio used about 11 minutes of his original material in its version of the film and filled in the rest with doubles. Another 23 minutes of Lee's footage was, according to Wikipedia, considered lost for 28 years until Bey Logan discovered it in 1999. John Little assembled this material according to Lee's script notes. According to Wikipedia, the reconstruction thus corresponds more faithfully to Lee's intention than earlier versions. Wikipedia lists John Little as director of the documentary and, for the restored footage, Bruce Lee as well. The producers were Chris Ennis and Lee Taek-yong, and John Little was co-producer.
