General overview of grades

This ladder is not yet attributed to a specific organisation. Federations differ in belt colours and time requirements.

Combat Sambo, developed in the Soviet Union for military and law enforcement, utilizes the Unified Sports Classification (EVSK) system across Eastern Europe: 3rd, 2nd, 1st Sports Category, Candidate Master of Sport (KMS), Master of Sport (MS), and World Class Master of Sport (MSMK). It evaluates helmeted striking, Kurtka jacket throws, chokes, and leg locks.

2nd Level – 2nd Sports Category

Pre-master state title. Victories over registered ranked fighters in tournaments.

Symbolism & Meaning

Official state decree issued by the Ministry of Sport.

5th Level – Master of Sport (MS)

Requirements & Focus

Full state Master of Sport. Medal placement at national Combat Sambo championship.

Symbolism & Meaning

Lifelong prestigious state certification of athletic excellence.

6th Level – Honored Master of Sport (ZMS / MSMK)

Typical gap since previous grade: 60 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Highest state sports honor. Gold medal at World FIAS or WCSF Championships.

Symbolism & Meaning

ZMS = Living legend of Combat Sambo with international renown.
