This ladder is not yet attributed to a specific organisation. Federations differ in belt colours and time requirements.

Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu, founded by Futagami Masaaki in 1650 during the Edo period following river meditation, is a renowned koryu tradition. Its 5-license structure (Shoden to Menkyo Kaiden) evaluates fluid Kumiuchi grappling like flowing water, joint locking, Tanto dagger, and Iaijutsu.

Shoden (Beginning Transmission)

Requirements & Focus

Basic 48 Kumiuchi grappling techniques standing/kneeling and 17th-century Atemi.

Symbolism & Meaning

Chuden (Middle Transmission)

Requirements & Focus

Koshi no Mawar short sword grappling forms and katana disarming.

Okuden (Deep Transmission)

Armored grappling Yoroi Kumiuchi, armor joint leverage, and ground pins.

Mokuroku (Catalog Scroll)

Typical gap since previous grade: 48 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Official technique scroll. Mastery of combined Iaijutsu and Jujutsu kata.

Symbolism & Meaning

Licensure authorizing running an independent dōjō in the Shitama lineage.

Menkyo Kaiden (Full Transmission)

Requirements & Focus

Highest scroll proving complete inheritance of traditional koryu knowledge.
