About Bâton de Joinville (Joinville Military Staff)
The Bâton de Joinville was created at the French military academy École de Joinville in 1852. It was used to train soldiers in combat with a two-handed wooden stick (approx. 1.4 m). It uses swings, thrusts and covers with both ends of the stick and formed the basis of the modern discipline of Canne de combat.
