General overview of grades

This ladder is not yet attributed to a specific organisation. Federations differ in belt colours and time requirements.

Abir Qeshoth (Hebrew Warrior Art), preserved by the Sofer family (Yehoshua Sofer) tracing roots to ancient Israelite tribes, uses a 22-level rank system based on the Hebrew alphabet (Aleph, Bet, Gimel, etc.). Ranks evaluate body movements forming Hebrew letters, palm strikes, takedowns, and Biblical combat tactics.

1st Level – Aleph (Initiate)

Typical gap since previous grade: 6 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Basic stances based on Hebrew letters (Aleph, Bet), body movement, & breathing.

Symbolism & Meaning

Ancient Hebrew warrior art preserved by the Sofer family from Yemen (Yehoshua Sofer).

2nd Level – Qashet (Bowman)

Typical gap since previous grade: 12 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Circular elbow/knee strikes mimicking Qashet bow shape, takedowns, & locks.

Symbolism & Meaning

Qashet = Bow. Second rank linking body flexibility with explosive striking wave.

3rd Level – Gibor (Warrior)

Typical gap since previous grade: 24 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Traditional weapons (shepherd staff, turban/cloth, dagger), disarms, & sparring.

Symbolism & Meaning

Gibor = Warrior of the 12 Tribes of Israel with flawless biblical tactics.

4th Level – Abir (Master)

Typical gap since previous grade: 48 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Full master rank. Teaching, student certification, and ancient text research.

Symbolism & Meaning

Abir = Knight / Noble warrior guarding spiritual Torah legacy in combat.

5th Level – Abir Aluf (Grandmaster)

Typical gap since previous grade: 72 monthsestimate

Requirements & Focus

Highest achievable title. Living Aluf Abir and sole global guarantor of tradition.

Symbolism & Meaning

Abir Aluf = Supreme head and founder of Abir Qesheth International Association.
